The Portico Sadie Massey Awards

Established in 2015, The Portico Sadie Massey Awards (PSMAwards) is an annual short story and book review competition which aims to encourage a life-long love of reading and writing in young people from all backgrounds. The PSMAwards serve schools across Greater Manchester by delivering workshops led by some of Manchester’s most respected ambassadors of children’s and young adult’s writing, with a particular emphasis on exploring stories based in the North of England. Participants develop essential skills in communication, creativity and critical thinking while working towards submitting entries to our competitions every March. There is a selection of prizes including mentorships, book bundles, gift tokens and more.

Praise for The Writing Squad:

"Having no formal creative writing qualifications, The Writing Squad gave me my first opportunity to take myself seriously as a writer. In the six months I've been a part of the squad I've produced more work, and to a higher quality, than in the 21 years beforehand.” Riley Bramley-Dymond, Film Maker
