Songs The Morning Sang poetry and photography walks

  • The Portico Library 57 Mosley Street Manchester, England, M2 3HY United Kingdom (map)

£8 plus booking fee - book here.

Poet and presenter for the Verb on Radio 4 Ian McMillan and photographer Andrew Brooks will be sharing more about their exhibition The Songs The Morning Sang at the Portico Library. Then they will take a group each out onto the streets of Manchester to explore similar details and sights such as those that feature in the exhibition, searching for beauty and strangeness in the everyday world.

Both workshop walks will share accessible ideas for documenting the streets where we live through writing and photography. The photography workshop will focus on Smartphone photography so that anyone can get involved.

We will be walking from the Portico Library, around China Town, St Peter Square, and other streets and open areas in Manchester, with the walks taking around 1 hour 10 minutes and then returning to the Portico Library.

Please be prepared for rain, bring a water bottle and wear sensible shoes.

The Songs The Morning Sang is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
