This unique event at the Portico Library begins with an introduction by Dr Debbie Challis, setting the scene with a fascinating talk on two British female artists and their encounters with women in the Ottoman Empire.

We’ll then move into a relaxed, hands-on art workshop, taught by The Creative Society Manchester, where you’ll learn traditional henna design techniques and paint your candle to take home, using Turkish floral motifs inspired by Islamic art.
