Winter Warming Flows: Poetry & Yoga

  • The Portico Library 57 Mosley Street Manchester, England, M2 3HY United Kingdom (map)

£8 / Low Income - Pay what you can here.

Try an experimental yoga flow class that combines poetry with movement to bring light to the dark days. This week is supposed to be the most ‘blue’ of the year so we’ll work together through movement and creativity to get through it!

“I tell my secret? No indeed, not I;

Perhaps some day, who knows?

But not today; it froze, and blows and snows,

And you’re too curious: fie!”

 Christina Rosetti

Yoga instructor Polly Anna Steiner will guide us through a yoga flow in response to Christina Rosetti's poem on winter. Mats, blocks and blankets will be supplied but feel free to bring your own too.

‘Flow continuously through a creative sequence to find a powerful connection between body and mind.'

  • We begin with guided meditation to find a sense of grounding, followed by gentle movements to awaken the body, and then flowing into more dynamic movement patterns led by the breath.

  • Repeating the sequence a few times over to allow for a moving meditation to unfold. Finding our strength, flexibility and balance through both the physical and energetic body.

  • We close with guided relaxation to gather and digest the benefits of the practice.
