Online Workshop: Writing Historical People and Places

A two-hour online workshop from creative writer and folklore specialist Sophie Parkes, teaching you how to create distinctive places and memorable people when writing historical fiction.

When starting a historical fiction project, too often we can be daunted by the research: the breadth, the depth, the differences in opinion. But the best historical fiction should always be led by distinctive places and memorable people. This two-hour online workshop encourages writers new to historical fiction to shape places and people that will remain with your readers, press them to read on and bring to life their real-life counterparts.

Resources will be shared in a digital folder before the event, with materials to inspire you from Sophie Parkes and The Portico.

Places are limited to ensure participants have the opportunity to read their writing, ask questions and receive feedback if they wish.
