Zebra is the debut collection from Hebden Bridge-based Ian Humphreys. These acutely observed and joyful poems explore mixed identities, otherness and coming-of-age as a gay man in 1980s Manchester. Humphreys is a fellow of The Complete Works programme (which aims to promote diversity and quality in British poetry) and was highly commended for his work at this year’s Forward Prizes.

Ian Humphreys lives in West Yorkshire. His work is widely published in journals and anthologies, such as The Forward Book of Poetry 2019, The Poetry Review, The Rialto, Ambit & Magma. Awards include First Prize in the Poetry Society’s Hamish Canham Prize. In 2018, he was Highly Commended in the Forward Prizes for Poetry. A fellow of The Complete Works, Ian’s poems are showcased in Ten: Poets of the New Generation (Bloodaxe).
